Townshend Act

- The Townshend Act was passed in 1767 by Charles Townshend. This was passed shortly after the Stamp Act was appealed. This was designed to collect revenue from the colonies in American by putting custom duties on imports on glass, lead, paints, paper and tea. The British was furious with this act because they couldn't get money from the colonies by taxing them. This was also important because it lead to the Boston Tea Party and the importance of it.
